There are few coaches in Catalan, state and even European sport who can attest to the sporting merits of Anna Tarrés. And not only in the form of titles or medals, especially in the fact that she has put synchronized swimming on the sports map, a modality that when she practiced as a child was called aquatic ballet and which has recently become in artistic swimming, but whatever name it is, everyone now knows and appreciates it. In the personal sphere, Tarrés is struggle, perseverance, resilience, innovation, non-conformism and, as she herself acknowledges, a woman with a strong character, which is what has made her a winner.
How do you get started in this sync madness?
I leave CN Atlètic Barceloneta, where in my first stage I did traditional swimming, when I was nine or ten years old. At that time it was already clear that I had the conditions to swim and this meant that I was put in groups with older swimmers. We would say that it was already intuited that she could be a good swimmer.
And were you already a rebel?
I don't know if I was a rebel at that time. I might say nonconformist, what I wanted was to have fun, to have fun, and since I was swimming with the big guys,I complained I remember they even kicked me out of training...
