We have to backtrack to the late eighties and early nineties. The world was changing, international geopolitics placed us in a social reality in which very important changes were taking place in international relations: the Berlin Wall fell and with it the imperialist and Soviet reality of the Cold War began to fade.
All countries were adapting to the new situation and the new way of relating and the world of sport was no stranger to these changes.
