I don't know how many times I've been asked in the last few months about my desire to speak Catalan. Some associate it with the sports theme, others with the fact of wanting to go down well with the fans; and there are also those who think it's a matter of personal marketing. But my answer when asked about it is always the same, it's simply a matter of respect.
First of all, I try to speak Catalan because of the education my parents gave me. I think it's up to smart people, when they get to a place, to get involved and get to know the local culture and language. After all, I am a person who, from the moment I set foot in Girona, I have felt at ease and loved by the people; and I try to correspond this feeling with everything I can and language is a way to do it.
