Pere Puig has been the sports director of Uni Girona for eighteen seasons, a position he has held since the Girona club's adventure began in 2005, with the merger of women's basketball from CE Santa Eugènia and Vedruna. After a long time warning that he would do it, this year the position has passed to the recently retired, Laia Palau.
She has always been seen at the foot of the court when there have been matches in Fontajau. What about now?
I will be in my locality now. I have had it for twelve years and I have never been there, I didn't know what it was, specifically, I had to look for it.
Time to look back, how did this madness begin?
I am just there. I trained at Santa Eugènia with the passion I always had for basketball, and we saw the need to do something more, because we had a lot of very interesting young players. Then we talk to the people of Vedruna to form a new and strong club and from here comes the Uni. This means that we share tasks and since no one had any idea about anything, it's my turn. From this point, I started walking and learning.
