The Women's Basketball League, as we know it today, started in the 95/96 season, although as a First Division it had been playing since 71/72. Before that, it had been the First National Championship, since 68/69, after it had all started in 1964.
After almost sixty years, this competition could be understood as one of the first to break a clear path in the vindication of women's sport. It was also one of the first leagues for which television bet when it came to giving some visibility to women's sport. And she was one of the first to exploit everything that became of the same competition, including the Spanish team itself.
